Think about it—what meme coin has ever done this?” Other VIP guests included Tron founder Justin Sun . Chinese-born Sun, a crypto billionaire who feared arrest in the US, also attended the event. Sun revealed he is the largest holder of the TRUMP memecoin and thanked Trump for his support to the industry. “As the top holder of $TRUMP and proud supporter of President Trump, it was an honor to attend the Trump Gala Dinner by @GetTrumpMemes. Thank you, @POTUS, for your unwavering support of our industry!” The President also gave a speech blaming the previous administration for going after crypto. Trump stated, “The past administration made your lives miserable. They were going after everybody. It was a disgrace frankly.” A Barrage Of Criticism Trump’s memecoin gala drew sharp criticism from lawmakers who accused the President of selling access to foreign governments and putting the US national security at risk. Senator Elizabeth Warren was vocal in her criticism, stating, “Donald Trump’s dinner is an orgy of corruption. That’s what this is all about. We are here today to talk about exactly one topic: corruption, corruption in its ugliest form. Donald Trump is using the presidency of the United States to make himself richer through crypto, and he’s doing it right out there in plain sight. He is signaling to anyone who wants to ask for a special favor and is willing to pay for it exactly how to do that.” Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Chris Murphy of Connecticut, and Rep. Sam Liccardo of California, and advocacy organizations criticized the event, with Blumenthal stating, “Donald Trump is selling access. He is selling out America. He is selling it to foreign powers. He is putting our national security at risk.” Trump’s Crypto Involvement Complicating Regulatory Efforts President Trump’s involvement in crypto has complicated efforts to advance bills and regulate the crypto industry. When asked if the list of attendees would be made public, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that the White House did not host the event. “This question has been raised with the President. I have also addressed the dinner tonight. The President is attending it in his personal time. It is not a White House dinner. It's not taking place here at the White House.” Meanwhile, House Financial Committee Republican French Hill said Trump’s crypto involvement has complicated regulatory efforts as he attempts to pass a crucial stablecoin bill in the House. Hill stated he viewed the dinner as a distraction, “I view the dinner last night as, you know, whatever, that to me, is a distraction from the work I think we need to do for the major big picture macro policy.” Disclaimer: This article is provided for informational purposes only.
