Description
Frax Ether (frxETH) is the native token of Fraxtal, an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain developed by Frax Finance. Originally issued as a liquid staking derivative on Ethereum, frxETH now also functions as the primary gas token on Fraxtal. It is used to pay for transactions and smart contract execution across the network. frxETH retains its ERC-20 format, allowing it to be bridged between Ethereum and Fraxtal through a native bridge. This dual functionality enables frxETH to operate both as a staking asset on Ethereum and as a blockchain-native token on Fraxtal. The network also introduces an incentive mechanism called Flox, where FXTL points are distributed to users and developers based on their gas usage and activity. This positions frxETH at the core of Fraxtal’s economic model and infrastructure. Frax Finance, led by Sam Kazemian, created both frxETH and the Fraxtal network as part of its broader DeFi ecosystem.
